Global Materials Re-use Solutions
As global manufacturing markets continue to evolve WTS is once again leading the charge to find innovative solutions around the world for byproducts and unused chemicals. WTS is continually developing partners and outlets for chemicals historically destined for disposal with an emphasis on providing value and cost savings for our clients.

WTS successfully arranged for the resale of 1,088,000 lbs of Hydrobromic acid to Asia from a closed manufacturing operation in New York State. The project saved an estimated $800,000 in transportation and disposal costs and provided an alternative solution to hazardous waste disposal.

WTS has established sound guidelines and appropriate contractual language to indemnify customers through the resale of materials. A typical evaluation of a by-product or unused material is thoroughly reviewed by our Technical Service team, Technical Director and legal counsel, with the intent of reducing potential risk of the interested parties.

Recycling Solutions
A Fortune 50, multi- National Conglomerate with several major Northeast Chemical Manufacturing Operations generated 750,000 to 1,000,000 gallons per year of a resin contaminated aromatic hydrocarbon waste.

Over a 2 year period, WTS developed a comprehensive off-site reclamation and waste management plan for this significant waste stream. The WTS Innovative Environmental Solution provided economic and operational incentives such that Owner was able to idle an active Boiler and Industrial Furnace (BIF) which was formerly used to destroy this waste stream. The corporation was able to save millions of dollars in operating and testing costs in addition to substantial unit cost savings resulting from the more efficient WTS Solution. The WTS Solution also included a provision which allowed them the ability to purchase the reclaimed aromatic hydrocarbon product at a significant savings over virgin raw materials.

Beneficial Reuse - Non hazardous Demolition Debris
A Multinational Fortune 100 Corporation contracted with WTS to manage a significant quantity of demolition debris from a manufacturing facility tear down in Philadelphia, PA.  The overall project involved demolishing all building structures except an adjacent administrative services building.  The buildings were constructed primarily of steel beam construction with an exterior brick facade and included a concrete production floor and several basement areas.

The interior walls were painted with leadbased paint and the building roof was constructed of layered construction primarilycomprised of lightweight concrete with a fiberboard-insulating layer cover with 3-ply tar paper.  The buildings also contained asbestos-containing material (ACM).  The former manufacturing facility had been in operation for nearly 70 years and had been a major player in the manufacturing of industrial power systems components.

Specifically, WTS identified product conditioning technology and a re-use application for over 25,000 cubic yards of non RCRA hazardous industrial waste building demolition debris to be used as a road base and daily cover material in the operation and construction of a major non hazardous landfill facility in the Mid Atlantic area of the United States.  Instead of using 25,000 cubic yards of landfill airspace, WTS was able to conserve a valuable resource and beneficially reuse what once would have been classified as a waste material while saving the owner nearly $1MM in disposal costs.
